My Kelisa problem 08.02.2010
I have been hearing noise coming from the rear of the car since late saturday morning but I couldn't tell where the sound is coming from.
So I decided to take a closer look yesterday morning and to my horror I found out that the exhaust pipe coming out from the muffler is broken. It is left hanging only by the mounting without connecting to the muffler at all. Not only that it is broken but almost the whole length of the pipe is badly damage due to corrosion or metal fatigue or some other reason that I just don't know.
So I decided to take it to a workshop and get it fixed. This is my conversation when I arrived at the workshop:
Me: Bos boleh tolong tengok ka camna mau repair ni pipe eksos suda patah? (Sambil tunjuk di bawah kereta dekat eksos)
Mekanik: Ooo nda payah tingu pun tau suda tu patah mana, biasalah ni kereta kelisa memang sana la masalah dia tu.
Me: Oh ya ka? Banyak suda ka kereta macam saya ni masalah gini?
Mekanik: Ya ba. Jap saya panggil tu chif mekanik exhaust. Oi Opppuuu mari sini kau tingu ni keta.
True to the name, the person they are calling chief specialist in exhaust repairing is a timorese.
He gave it a look and ask whether I just want to change the piping or put on a sport exhaust. Since I am in the mood of trying something different, I opt to put a sport exhaust tip with direct piping without the muffler.
Waited for around 1 hour and the job is done. Cost = RM250
I tried googling for the so called "banyak suda masalah ni kelisa punya exhaust" thing in the internet and true I got some similar stories:
Just one more problem: The car is more noisier now! At first testing at the workshop it sounded not too loud but when reach home I realized it is much louder than first thought.
Maybe need to put silencer or change exhaust tip or something. Later will find out how to decrease the noise a bit.
